I wanted to write this note as we send Prince Philp to rest in Windsor, Surrey, where I have the enormous privilege to live and reflect over the two decades.

I have been reading, learning, and researching intensively about his work. Prince Philip was a pioneer of system change who transformed the Monarchy and built internal systems to reduce bureaucracy. He was a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) pioneer. A design and engineering master, he knew the importance of time and constant change.

I love that he augmented transparency and enabled social change across the United Kingdom. He has completed more than 22,000 solo engagements since 1952, which I find remarkable.

The Duke was generous and used his power to make a difference.

He was a doer. He understood the power of institutions and progressively made necessary changes. He was a controversial figure, but he knew that.

The Prince knew that some of his comments offended people, but he was not mean. I believe he was true to himself, authentic, honest, and, of course, imperfect. He learned to master his skills and craft. Prince Philp continued to learn, invent, and build throughout his life.

People from his generation did not apply filters when speaking; only time and education would change them. Some people on social media accused him of being racist. I’m afraid I have to disagree and find this offensive. Prince Philip was not racist.

My father-in-law is from the same generation. They will say the most outrageous things that most of us will find racist and offensive. I think we should not focus on this but appreciate his work and the people he has supported through his charities and philanthropic work.

The teaching and love for the country- the loyalty to our Queen-.

Over the 73 years of this marriage to the Queen, he asked what my job is here rather than what show I should put in. There is plenty of evidence that the Prince had a purpose. He was an environmentalist.
